Our Story – How Deadly Dozen Became a Global Fitness Racing Movement
Our Story – The Birth of Deadly Dozen
From a single race to a global movement.
Deadly Dozen began with one simple goal: to create a fitness race that anyone could join. What started as a Track Race in Macclesfield, UK, has now evolved into a global community of athletes, affiliates, and fitness enthusiasts, with hundreds of races across 23 countries.
Jason Curtis, Founder
The Birth of the Deadly Dozen Track Race
In our early days, we had one race. One location. But what we lacked in size, we made up for in passion. The Deadly Dozen Track Race was born out of a desire to bring something new to the fitness world – a race that was accessible, challenging, and fun, with one standard for everyone. It wasn’t about elite athletes or complex, expensive equipment. It was about testing endurance and strength with simple, universal movements that anyone could do. Whether you’re running 400m or carrying a weight, every athlete stood on the same starting line, racing to push their limits.
The Global Expansion
From Macclesfield, we expanded quickly. The energy and demand for fitness racing grew, and soon we were running races across the UK, Europe, and the US. Today, Deadly Dozen has become a global movement, with events and affiliate gyms in 23 countries worldwide, bringing athletes together for hybrid races, gym events, and fitness competitions.
Our Growing Global Family
Deadly Dozen is about more than just the race. It’s about the community that we’ve built — and continue to build — with our athletes, coaches, and affiliates. Our community is a mix of everyday athletes, fitness professionals, gym owners, and passionate competitors, all committed to pushing the boundaries of their fitness and performance.
We’ve partnered with affiliate gyms around the world, offering coaching, education, and opportunities for gym owners to bring fitness racing into their communities. We’re creating something bigger than just a race series; we’re creating a movement that’s transforming fitness culture.
The Future of Deadly Dozen
As we look to the future, Deadly Dozen is committed to expanding its global reach, bringing new fitness races and innovative formats to the world stage. The Institute of Fitness Racing, opening in 2026, will serve as the global hub for training, education, and competition, making Deadly Dozen the cornerstone of fitness racing worldwide.
